Huntingdon
Saturday 14 November saw me heading out of the county of Lincolnshire down to Huntingdon to partake in some workshops organised by Caroline Goodwin, featuring Khaled, the shimmy king. As ever his workshops were fun but hard work, and you just never get over that feeling of wonderment when he shows you how its meant to be. Oh well, more practise needed!!
Following the workshops, Khaled stayed on to top the bill of Caroline’s evening Hafla. It was really pleasant to see so many groups taking to the stage and there were some very good solo performances, noticeably Emma and Melina. Caroline did a lovely khaleegi number, but the king of the night was Khaled. His second set, performed on a tiny tabla drum was awesome. As always great to watch if you are a dancer, and for those non dancers in the audience, sheer amazement.
