PINK Belly dance 2009
The 24 and 25 October saw the now annual PINK belly dance festival held in Nottingham, organised by Pauline and Asif and Tati, who have got everything down to a fine art.
The Fernwood School provided a good base for the festival with loads of space, a good-sized hall with stage for the performances and some good classroom space for the workshops. Easy enough to find and parking was ample. The programme of workshops was vast and I was fortunate enough to do a couple of workshops with Ozgen and Tara Ibrahim. Both are really lovely teachers and I feel they were great value for money. Lots of opportunity to shop, meet up with friends old and new and generally get together made it a super weekend event.
Unfortunately the numbers were down a little this year, particulary on the Sunday and maybe that’s a reflection of the general credit crunch, but, and perhaps its just me, JOY was only 2 weeks previously and you simply cannot get to all the events can you? Nevertheless, Tati tells me that they managed to match last years fundraising as they raised in excess of £900 for PINK. So thank you to the PINK team, ‘cos I had a lovely weekend.
