Tribal Links
Tribal belly dance is a genre of it's own (with various assorted sub-genres) and is primarily influenced by the dance and costume styles of North African tribes and tribes of the Middle East. There are all kinds of sub genres so trying to pin down a definition is not a good idea. Tribal fuses well with all kinds of other dance styles so I've seen variations that include fusions with anything from flamenco to morris dancing and they all seem to work. Tribal tends to attract the younger crowd and also those with Gothic tendencies. But then it attracts respectable grandmothers with a rebellious streak too so once again making generalisations is dangerous.
Whatever your tribal dance style there's a link here that will push your buttons. If there isn't, tell us about what does. Tribal is a growing movement and new websites are coming on line all the time. If we missed your site don't be afraid to tell us about it... chances are that we just haven't found it yet.

"We are a group of ladies called Kalash who dance American Tribal Style, based in mid Devon (Tiverton to be precise) and have recently set up a new website! We have started a network for southwest ATS dancers called Oasis and it is proving very popular, giving the pockets of ATS dancers around the southwest a chance to come together and trade tips and techniques (theres loads more info and pics on our website). We aim to meet every six weeks or so."
Kalash also has a tribal forum aimed mostly at the South West but open to anyone, anywhere. Click here to go direct to their forum.
